Pitchford Associates offers a variety of professional services aimed at providing un-biased and scientifically based advice to help manage your tree resource. We have over 30 years of experience and with proven results. We are dedicated to the assessment and preservation of trees on all properties.
Our expertise and innovative Tree Matrix technology can preserve real estate value as well as save you money by identifying trees that cannot be saved.
The most damaging impacts are root loss from soil compaction and severing of the root system. We use Tree Matrix to plot the likely extent of the root system, in order to better save trees.
We will identify the best preservation candidates and work with you to establish a tree save program that will ensure their long-term health and survivability.
The health and longevity of trees can be greatly diminished when damaged or stressed during construction activity.
Our tree assessments are often visual inspections of the rooting zone, root flares, main trunk, scaffold limbs and small limbs. Our arborists use binoculars to inspect trees from the ground. These are termed Level 2 tree risk assessments. If specialized tools or equipment is needed, these are termed Level 3 TRA. Pitchford Associates can provide both.
Our risk assessments utilize a resistograph machine in an effort to determine the amount of sound wood, or “shell thickness,” present in the root flare, main trunk, or even on portions of the tree higher in the canopy. We use this information, along with widely accepted industry guidelines for shell thickness, to help in making tree retention decisions. Keith Pitchford is an ISA certified tree risk assessor, and as such, is uniquely qualified to provide these time intensive assessments.
Pitchford Associates conducts inventories on large and small properties, and for a variety of clients. It may be a homeowner association or municipality looking to begin a long-term maintenance program. Or simply a property owner concerned with just one tree.
We provide a scientifically based inventory and assessment of your trees and using a variety of inventory software, to set the basis for an efficient tree management program.
Pitchford Associates can also provide tree appraisals in the event of an insurance claim or legal dispute. Our appraisals are conducted based upon the guidelines set forth by the International Society of Arboriculture and the Council on Landscape Appraisal. These appraisals have been accepted by a wide variety of insurance companies, Maryland counties and courts of law.
